Senior Engagement Manager

I’ve stayed at Syneos Health for 6 years primarily due to the great team and interesting work that we do. Firstly, the team members from top to bottom of the consulting organization are committed and dedicated to helping team members develop and learn. Everyone has each other’s backs and the firm has a strong and collaborative culture. Secondly, I still find the work to be challenging, interesting, and that I have opportunities to learn new things on each project.

My Syneos Health Story:

Why did you choose Syneos Health and what keeps you here?

I originally chose Syneos Health due to their strong reputation and dedicated focus on the pharmaceutical industry. I wanted to learn as much as possible about the industry and knew that Syneos Health would provide me that opportunity.

What was your prior experience before joining Syneos Health? Did you come straight from school or from another industry?

My undergraduate background was studying biopsychology (aka neuroscience). Following completion of my undergraduate degree, I worked for Roche Pharmaceuticals and Stanford University in various research capacities related to my degree. Eventually, I decided my interests were more in the business side rather than the research side of the pharmaceutical industry; therefore, I pursued a full-time MBA at a school with a concentration focused on the healthcare industry. Following graduation, I directly joined what was Campbell Alliance (now Syneos Health) and have remained with the firm for 6 years now.

What has been your most favorite project at Syneos Health and why?

My favorite project(s) at Syneos Health actually spanned a couple different engagements with the client. We were supporting the client with strategic planning for an upcoming launch in lung cancer. This particular launch was very interesting with several important strategic decisions that were not obvious. We collaboratively worked with the client at several points from about 18 months before launch all the way up to launch. It was quite rewarding seeing all the work that we contributed ultimately help support a very successful product launch.

Which of Syneos Health's values speaks the most to you and why?

Passionate to change lives. While it might sound cliché, I truly believe one of the reasons our industry is unique and important is that the work we do can ultimately help extend or improve the lives of patients. If you look at the significant improvements that have been made in the survival rates of many cancers, I think it demonstrates the profound impact that this industry can have. Everyone at Syneos Health helps play a part in this and I think it is always essential to put the patient at the center of everything that we do.

What are some additional things you are involved with either at the office or outside, besides client work?

I’m a strong believer in the benefits of exercise and team sports. I continue to participate in organized soccer leagues and find that these are really important for me as a way to decompress and help keep me centered. I always encourage new team members to find hobbies outside of work and ensure these activities are prioritized even as project work is particularly busy.
