The Freelance Publications Editor is responsible for the editorial integrity of publications pieces (manuscripts, abstracts, posters) developed by Cadent, ensuring all are flawless from a grammatical, factual, and stylistic perspective. 

Cadent  specializes in high science, high touch peer-to-peer medical communications. The company excels in translating complex science into compelling messages that deliver value and action. Cadent builds relationships and collaboration between the biopharmaceutical industry and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Performs editorial reviews, including copy edit, style, check changes, and fact check at designated times in the job life cycle
• Reviews for content, grammar, and spelling as well as for journal/congress style, FDA rules and regulations, Good Publication Practice (GPP3), and consistency within the piece and among related pieces 
• Fact checks initial round of jobs and subsequent rounds as necessary (has the ability to understand scientific and medical data to ensure copy accurately represents the source from which it was taken)
• Accurately tracks time spent on each job and enters in time-tracking system

Job Requirements

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, life sciences, or related field
• 3 years’ experience in medical publications   

       Preferred:            

• MSc, MPharm, or equivalent   

Skills

       Required:            

• Proficient in AMA style
• Proficient in basic grammar and spelling rules
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (ie, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with internal team members
• Ability to work independently
