Reporting to the Syneos Health National Business Director, the Project Director (PD) is responsible for the successful management of a team of District Managers and Specialists in an assigned franchise.  The PD will oversee the activities and performance their team and is responsible for meeting or exceeding program goals. 


Essential Functions:  

  • Manages Syneos Health district managers and interface with Syneos Health Immunology Sales Specialists.  Responsibilities include selection, evaluation, and retention of employees.
  • Oversees training of district managers and specialists.  Provide ongoing coaching to district managers and specialist to build a capable and effective team through continuous feedback.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with client training department to provide optimal new hire training, ongoing training, and prepare effective training workshops for district and national meetings.
  • Collaborates and partner closely with client NSDs and RBDs. Effectively strategize and support all cross-functional partners (ex. field reimbursement, medical education, nurse support teams)
  • Creates a climate of trust, allowing open communication, decision-making, and decisiveness.
  • Inspires ownership, accountability, initiative, and engagement within the entire team by regularly communicating the vision, business objectives, performance outcomes, and future action steps.
  • Demonstrates relentless drive to achieve business goals for the franchise.  Understands and evaluates the potential impact of external events on franchise strategies.
  • Approves and assists with the implementation of district and territory level plans within the franchise.
  • Demonstrates strong strategic thinking and communication skills allowing effective collaborating with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Identifies issues/opportunities before others and uses robust analytical rigor to frame situations.
  • Incorporates new perspectives and ideas, and crafts critical solutions or recommendations.
  • Remains fully versed in promotional compliance regulations, including legal and regulatory. Monitors promotional activity to ensure team maintains compliance with client policies and only utilizes approved promotional materials and messaging. Ensures the team is always fully trained.
  • Reviews employee performance and makes objective assessments.  Addresses skill development to achieve performance management objectives.
  • Provides feedback and suggestions to marketing department on sales/educational materials.
  • Establishes a plan to provide regular communications to team and to receive their feedback.
  • Interfaces with other functional leaders and teams in marketing, managed care, human resources, and operations in order to achieve business goals
  • Responsible for franchise budget and expense management.  Recommends solutions to client issues that maximize revenue and efficiency and control costs for client and Syneos Health.
  • Frequent travel required within franchise districts, and to Syneos Health and client home office 

Job Requirements

Along with a results-oriented mindset, self-assurance and an encouraging manner, the ideal candidate has:

  • B.S. degree required; M.S. or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience within pharmaceutical sales with five or more years’ experience managing a team of sales representatives. 
  • Ability to identify strategies with greatest business impact, formulates appropriate business plans within the approved strategy, and engages their teams to execute the plan. 
  • Previous successful work experience and management of teams in franchise’s selling environments.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence cross-functionally.
  • Current driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Excellent command of the English language required, both written and spoken.

Interviews may be conducted in person at an on-site interview location. For any in person interviews, local Covid safety guidelines will be followed.
