The Design Lead closely mentors Sr and Jr level studio creative teams to conceptualize tactical layout ideas and produce flawless executions for our agency clients.

For certain studio clients that do not have their own creative oversight, you will work closely with the agency leads to help establish a trusting relationship by understanding the strategic vision of projects and has a thorough knowledge of all brand standards within their assigned pod. The Design Lead is a senior role for leaders with a proven track record of effective communication, innovation, and high-level design problem-solving. Design Lead ensure that all projects and experiences are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

In addition to supervising the entire design process and all-important technical decisions, we are looking for a Design Lead who is able to quickly interpret business needs and briefs and turn them into compelling creative solutions. Often working under tight deadlines while overseeing multiple projects, the Design Lead must be a skilled manager of creative teams (including but not limited to: art directors, copywriters, content strategists, graphic artists, and production designers).



  • Distill abstract business concepts and client needs into elegant creative solutions.
  • Take responsibility for the creative vision and the standard of output across team members who work under them.
  • Have strong people management and leadership skills in order to hire, develop, and inspire the creative team.
  • Ensure that all of the organization’s or client’s creative output/visuals are consistent with the overall brand.
  • Lead multiple projects from conception to completion in accordance with deadlines.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Ask smart questions, take risks, and champion new ideas.
  • Able to articulate project feasibility to engagement management and clients
  • Conceptualize, develop, and produce original creative from inception through to execution
  • Establish a brand-centric look and feel and ensure consistency of art, design and aesthetics for their assigned accounts
  • Guide studio art directors, copywriters and designer teams to answer briefs and produce thoughtful creative executions
  • Mentor creative team to critically assess and guide their work
  • Work collaboratively with the engagement managers, project managers and creative leads to provide meaningful communications to clients.
  • Present concepts to engagement managers and creative leads for internal guidance and approval
  • Lead creative presentations of approved work to clients where required
  • Stay up-to-date on latest trends, relevant talent and competitive work and share that with the full creative team, and the rest of the studio leads
  • Communicate effectively with engagement manager and resource manager to ensure an integrated approach to client deliverables
  • Maintains awareness of current design trends, new techniques, and technology
  • In tune with the daily operations and able to create as well as lead
  • Lead, mentor, and support creative personnel
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of the creative work assigned to creative teams they oversee
  • Champion a flexible, inclusive and diverse work environment

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of design direction experience in a fast-paced ad agency, preferably with a focus on healthcare creative
  • Experienced in creating campaigns for both DTC and HCP healthcare advertising
  • An enviable portfolio of work that clearly demonstrates an understanding of break-though healthcare focused creative
  • Leads the team to create on brand creative solutions accurately, efficiently, and within budget
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Has extensive experience in both the digital and print space
  • Is fluent in the Adobe Suite including XD and Sketch
  • Familiar with Evolphin Zoom file management software and Wrike work flow management software
  • Thorough understanding of print/web/TV production, functionality, information architecture, and interactive design principles
  • A successful track record of stand-out creative with regulatory approval
  • Strong attention to detail and version control
  • Strong understanding of integrated advertising and brand experience
