Who we are: The Syneos Health Reputation & Risk Management Practice is a team of healthcare communications consultants, policy-shapers and crisis response specialists. Who you are: We’re looking for a self-described healthcare “nerd”—someone who wants to think about complex national (and global) healthcare issues and advise clients on communications implications. To succeed in this role, you need a knack for solving problems quickly and an ability to be poised under pressure. Candidates must have a proven track-record of resourcefulness and hands on experience gathering available information to formulate persuasive recommendations and action plans. Excellent writing, verbal presentation and power point skills are required. The position is half communications and half consulting.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do: You will serve as a strategist on flagship client businesses as well as contribute to business development and client growth. Specifically, this role must oversee communications and stakeholder engagement strategies relative to corporate communications and reputation advancement, executive visibility, risk mitigation, media relations and thought leadership.

Daily activities will require solving problems, creating strategic plans, overseeing and scheduling team deliverables, and providing strategic counsel and communications materials to clients.

Account Management:

  • Develop and manage projects and programs, including strategies, implementation plans, evaluation mechanisms, staffing, timelines and budgets.
  • Act independently. 
  • Counsel clients with limited top cover.
  • Maintain and growing existing accounts; minimize account turn-over.
  • Provide proactive leadership to accounts, staff and clients.

Professional Skills:

  • Ability to synthesize information quickly and turn informed recommendations for C-Suite audiences.
  • Display strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Versatile, with flexibility to quickly change tasks on a moment’s notice.
  • Interest in current event, public affairs, health policy and / or advocacy relations.
  • Exhibit calm equilibrium and quick thinking in the midst of an issue.
  • Presents very effectively.
  • Cultivates marketable body of functional or subject matter expertise.

Job Requirements

Our ideal candidate will be able to work independently under tight deadlines with modest direction.

  • 8-10 years of experience (preferably past agency, consulting or healthcare)
  • Background in healthcare and life science industry preferred
  • Capacity to process new information rapidly and make decisions based on limited information
  • Strong ability to develop and deliver recommendations that are clear, persuasive and appropriate for C-suite executives
  • Comfort working in cross-functional teams large and small
  • Willingness to jump into any issue and provide support to colleagues with minimal onboarding
  • Strong client service orientation and charismatic speaking ability, executive presence
  • Strong writing and content development capabilities
  • Exhibit calm equilibrium and quick thinking in the midst of an issue
  • Leads colleagues in following industry trends and accessing emerging technologies and resources in solving problems.
  • Displays work ethic and values of firm in day-to-day capacities.
