The Business Development Strategist facilitates growth across the Syneos Health advertising agencies by leading reactive pitches/proposals and supporting prospecting and marketing efforts. They collaborate with all agency disciplines to create content and drive project progress.


The Business Development Strategist will support the senior Business Development Strategists (EVP/VP/Director). Responsible for the big picture, the overarching business strategy and proposal story development. They create consistency and add value throughout the development of new business proposals by helping to articulate the strategy in a way that’s true to the winning premise. They help create an environment where collaboration and iteration of the work is encouraged, facilitating connection points where teams can share and challenge perspectives, and serving as a decision maker to ensure the team aligns and moves forward. In the home stretch of the pitch, the business strategist ties all of the pieces together by refining iteration into final product with a compelling story structure for the team to take and make their own on pitch day. For written proposals, the business strategist takes on responsibility for turning the team’s ideas and strategies into persuasive client-facing prose.


  • Conceptualize, create, and write various client-facing/competitive documents including RFP responses, strategic POV/positioning pieces, overarching story lines, and other means of persuasive communication

  • Organize, analyze, interpret, and present information to key audiences (internal and external)
  • Establish and foster relationships with individuals across departments and offices, with an eye towards anticipating team dynamics and enhancing process flow
  • Participate in research and help gather information to generate and advise on unique and comprehensive business strategies/consultations
  • Apply critical thinking and analysis to information and observations to inform and define creative decisions, content development, and engagement with audiences
  • Contribute to and lead team effort
  • Assist with pitch theatrics and logistical details – running rehearsal, developing deck and physical meeting assets

Job Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and hierarchies
  • Persuasive communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, team-driven environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strength in multitasking, organization, and attention to detail
  • Strong time management, organization, and presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented, flexible, self-directed
