Under the direction of Associate Medical Directors, Medical Directors, the Medical Information Specialist supports the development of medical/scientific strategy, content, and med/reg/legal review submission packages. This position works closely with all members of Medical Communications (Medical Writers and Medical Directors) to ensure the medical and scientific integrity of all communications produced by the agency.

  • Supports Medical Strategists/Writers to develop content that is medically/scientifically accurate and on-strategy
    • Assists with the identification of data supporting promotional messages and claims
    • Reviews and annotates work of Medical Writers to ensure accuracy and medical/scientific integrity
    • Addresses QC issues identified by Medical Writers and Editors, as appropriate
  • Develops content for medical/science-focused non-promotional materials (eg, literature reviews, conference summaries, monographs, slide decks)
  • Develops and maintains source documentation of appropriate data and language that supports promotional strategy and messaging at key points in the product lifecycle (eg, launch, label changes, etc.)
  • Serves as a med/reg/legal submission specialist, supporting the annotation of promotional work consistent with the requirements of the specific client
  • Alerts team/clients to new data, changes in practice or other market developments that may affect brand strategic objectives and works with Medical Directors to develop solutions that meet the change(s)

Job Requirements

  • Scientific degree required: Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Psychology, Pharmacology, MS, MD, DO, PharmD, or PhD or other professional degree with relevant healthcare or research experience preferred
  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical/medical/science industry preferred but not required
  • Must be able to provide scientific and medical expertise across a broad range of therapeutic categories
  • Ability to communicate technical/medical information clearly and accurately to a wide variety of audiences
  • Must be able to work within a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with internal and external customers
