Overview

The Studio’s Head of Studio Creative as the department lead and SME,  is responsible for developing the vision for the creative department, keeping a pulse on the evolving needs of the business and adjusting the department offering to address the changing needs.

 

A key accountability for this role is establishing strong relationships with agency creative leadership and building trust in studio creative capabilities and team members.

 

As the department lead and SME, the Head of Studio Creative is accountable for the creative department’s quality of service, process and output. This role will be responsible for the creative talent in the following sub-divisions: design, presentation services and copy/editorial.

 

The Head of Studio Creative may also be responsible for assisting with project intake, including working with agency, and/or clients and/or Studio Engagement Leads to formalize the project parameters and ensure all necessary information is provided to effectively assign and execute the work.

 

This role is accountable for the holistic creative department staff plan development and maintenance in partnership with Engagement Managers, collaborating with each discipline team lead: design, presentations and copy/editorial.

 

The Head of Studio Creative will also partner with Studio Engagement Leads who will provide both onsite creative team management support and manage relationship with agency teams.

 

Studio Senior Leadership Team Member

This position is a department head role for the studio that, in conjunction with the other studio senior leaders, is ultimately accountable for establishing and maintaining overall studio performance. The senior leadership team will focus on continuously improving studio performance, expanding capabilities, and optimizing efficiencies while evolving the vision of the organization in order to meet changing client needs.

This role is also responsible for representing the studio creative offerings in capability presentations and participating in new business initiatives such as RFP/RFI and pitches.  

 

Syneos Health Creative Studio Network supports over 12+ Syneos marketing and communication agencies as well as direct-to-client engagements. For the Syneos Communications Group, the studio functions as the agencies’ creative execution and production arm, implementing their creative vision.

The studio network provides implementation expertise with a focus on operational excellence and flawless execution—on time, on budget and on strategy. Additionally, as the need for studio to engage in more complex, conceptual work, the Director of Creative Operations will be providing direction, input and ultimately be the last set of eyes before concepts move to execution.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with both agency stakeholders (Creative and Ops) or Studio Engagement Leads to understand incoming project/talent needs
  • Oversight for creative sub-division team leads to ensure resource alignment and balanced workloads across the network to deliver effectively and efficiently
  • Establish department and  individual direct reports’ annual performance goals
  • Establish, train and govern creative standards of excellence and best practices to meet quality and efficiency expectations
  • Ensure studio team members are working collaboratively and seamlessly with agency team members
  • Ensure and maintain client satisfaction across all studio creative engagements
  • Serve as the ultimate escalation point for creative and design problem-solving; identifies potential project risks and challenges
  • Work with sub-division team leads to ensure appropriate onboarding, training and development of all studio creative talent
  • Ensure that team members feel valued, respected and celebrate the studio as a great place to work (and play)
  • Leads by example, not always delegating (still creates)
  • Encourages and supports training and development opportunities as well as staying on top of industry trends
  • Can read and command a room and present with passion and conviction with solid design rationale
  • Provides execution creative leadership across all tactic types, including staying current with latest relevant trends and technologies
  • Partners with Studio Operations to assist in managing financial performance on creative projects and team utilization

Job Requirements

  • BA/BFA/MA/MFA degree with coursework in the arts, communications, advertising
  • 7-10 years of cross-channel/integrated pharmaceutical advertising experience (required)
  • Spanish-language fluency: written and/or oral, to communicate with extended studio teams abroad (preferred)
  • Not limited by art or copy; can drive the total communication experience (required)
  • Effective communicator and relationship nurturer
  • Has interest in growing with the company and must have strong references (required)
