Responsibilities

The Oncology Care Navigator will be responsible to connect with patients through phone, text, and email to set expectations for starting therapy, share information on programs, and provide approved resources on living with cancer and beyond. The Oncology Care Navigator will provide education for the administration of the approved drugs, and/or disease state for which they are prescribed.  The Oncology Care Navigator will provide patient’s understanding of their therapy and will not provide medical advice. The Oncology Care Navigator will engage with patients at key points in their treatment journey to provide relevant education and support.  
 
Key Job Responsibilities:  
(Duties may include, but are not limited to the following)

  • May provide virtual (telephonic)  training and education 
  • Accelerate disease state awareness  
  • Educate HCPs on Care Navigator program resources as aligned to Rules of Engagement     
  • Integrate, per business rules, with  matrix partners with the goal of optimizing the patient experience 
  • Communicate as required with managers, peers, customer counterparts.
  • Ability to work within complex technologies  and to complete/balance several tasks at once maintaining focus and accuracy   
  • Provide patient support through the approved, designated call cadence, documenting all call outcomes in CRM.
  • Attend and provide program information and/or presentations at national, regional and local meetings as required.  
  • May be asked to attend meetings for personal/professional development  
  • Attends client meetings as requested  
  • Documents all interactions with patients and HCPs daily  
  • Stays current in clinical developments related to specific disease state  
  • Checks voice mail and email daily as directed  
  • Completes all reports and written assignments in a timely, accurate and thorough manner  
  • Maintains the highest level of professional standards in all interactions with patients’ customers and other business contacts.  
  • Demonstrates sound judgment with regard to utilization of time and financial resources,
    such a travel and entertainment.  
  • Reads, understands, and adheres to important documents such as:  fraud and abuse guidelines, FDA guidelines, PhRMA code, SOPs, , HIPPA guidelines, memos regarding policy and procedures and program Rules of Engagement
  • Work with patients to determine initial eligibility for patient financial support and document accordingly

Job Requirements

Along with a results-oriented mindset, self-assurance and an engaging manner, the ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Active RN license or Advanced Practice degree (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant/PharmD/MSN) required.
  • Candidates who are OCN and/or Infusion certified is preferred
  • A minimum of 2+ years post graduate oncology clinical and/or educational experience is required
  • Previous industry experience preferred
  • Experience with specialty products (preferably oncology and/or infusion/or subcutaneous injection) preferred
  • Knowledge and/or experience with direct to patient education initiatives preferred
  • Previous experience in introducing new specialty pharmaceutical/biologics products or indications a plus
