Responsibilities

The Argentina General Manager (Director / Senior Director Equivalent) in Consulting is an experienced leader in the biopharmaceutical industry and a trusted advisor to internal team members and to clients with accountability for operational excellence, project management, team leadership, and business development (added plus).  As a visible leader of the business, the General Manager drives commercial success by building / coaching the team, coordinating with other leaders in other regions, establishing operational processes for hiring, recruiting, training, and assists in securing profitable business by harvesting accounts and generating new leads. In addition, the General Manager will leverage their understanding of the country to make Syneos Health Consulting a great place to work. More specifically:

  • Builds positive working relationships with consulting staff, managers, leadership, internal support teams, and clients (opportunistically)
  • Ensure all aspects of the consulting business operates smoothly.

    • People

      • Recruit and train staff across consulting advisory groups and verticals (commercial, value and access, medical affairs, program management, R&D, quality, regulatory)

      • Supervise staff from different departments and provide ongoing professional development opportunities and constructive feedback. Takes responsibility for career advising to consulting staff team members as a Development Coach.  Gathers project performance feedback, conducts performance reviews, and contributes meaningful feedback to internal promotion calibration sessions. 

      • Ensure team members are staffed on global projects and are equipped with relevant support and resources to ensure successful project delivery and professional development

      • Coordinate with local and global HR teams to provide competitive incentives and initiatives to recruit, hire, and retain team members

      • Focused on team development and seeks growth opportunities for team members. 

    • Operation
      • Develop, manage, and update Argentina strategic goals and plan to ensure the business operates smoothly and adheres to all country regulations and cultural guidelines
      • Champion country-specific needs and requirements by educating the broader consulting organization on unique nuances to local talent and team members
      • Provide updates and progress reports to consulting leadership on staff utilization across advisory groups and verticals
      • Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of business to ensure smooth project delivery across consulting services; apply improvements when opportunities allow  
      • Ensures reasonable level of billability for local project team members; champion engagement and integration across consulting project
      • Actively takes a leadership role in company-sponsored events, training and professional development opportunities, meetings, and office and consulting team initiatives.  

 

    • Business Growth
      • Attend local networking and marketing opportunities initiatives to help with recruiting, publicity, and also business development
      • Support capabilities development to service consulting advisory group growth objectives
      • Help generate leads at new accounts or solicit support from other business units to close deals and secure new projects
      • Collaborate with others to help the business attain business objectives and metrics
      • Review team financial performance and identify strategies to increase profitability and team utilization

 

  • Skilled at assessing team needs and designing value-add solutions.  Acts as a subject matter expert for team members.  Works collaboratively with other executives to design and deliver customized and innovative solutions for business needs.  Recognized strategic mindset, with the ability to analyze, distill, and communicate for senior-level audiences. 

 

  • Directs teams to ensure quality client deliverable development.  Proficient at reviewing materials and content for relevance, accuracy, and strategic direction.  Adept at coaching team members on the development of core consulting skills.  Provides regular feedback on team members’ strengths and areas for development.  Facilitates project team discussions to pressure test recommendations, underlying assumptions, and deliverable quality. 

 

  • Ability to multi-task, manage ambiguity, and collaborate internally and externally. 

 

  • Demonstrates thought leadership and uses it to build innovative offerings and to enhance current market offerings.  Creates market eminence and is an influential leader internally and externally.  Shares domain knowledge and case studies with the broader Consulting team. 

 

  • Builds consulting delivery capability as an effective recruiter, manager, and developer of people.  Utilizes available staff and manager resources and develops them in a manner that enables target attainment and efficient project execution/scalability.  Creates a culture of mentorship, collaboration, and retention within project teams and the Consulting Group, more broadly.  Ensures consulting staff and managers gain breadth of experience across a variety of clients, service offerings, and management styles. 

 

  • Exhibits professional, positive, respectful, and mature interactions internally & externally. Displays passion and drive while advocating for a superior team experience through local leadership. Well-respected and visible leader within the company.  Viewed as positive role model for teams and enjoyable to work for / with.  Displays the passion and drive of a business owner. Drives a positive, collaborative, and professional team culture through words, attitude, and actions.

Job Requirements

Along with demonstrated initiative, uncompromised integrity and a results-oriented mindset, the ideal candidate has:

  • MBA or a graduate degree in a life sciences field required 
  • 10-15 years of life sciences/pharmaceutical experience, including consulting 
  • A strong history of successfully operating or managing a local Argentinian team as a part of a multinational advisory or consulting organization
  • Talent for growing and developing key internal relationships 
  • Ability to contribute to the development of the overall business strategy
  • Demonstrated competency in building high performing, customer-focused teams 
  • Highly strategic with exceptional written and verbal English communication skills 
  • Excellent organization skills and precise attention to detail 
  • The drive for self-development, the ability to collaborate, and an action-oriented work ethic 
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel required
  • Ability to travel
