The Medical Writer develops compelling medical and scientific content for promotional implementation on assigned product. The Medical Writer is a key component of each brand team through their ability to distill medical information and data into accurate and effective communication, for both HCPs and laymen audiences, that drives action.

Responsibilities

The Medical Writer is responsible for developing the content for products, primarily in the pharma market, to be used by client teams across a variety of avenues (sales reps, sales managers, marketers, MSLs, nurses and patients). The Medical Writer must be capable of partnering and collaborating with key internal stakeholders (account, project managers, medical, creative, editorial) to ensure content created aligns with supporting materials, conveys the brands strategic intent and is delivered on time throughout the development process.

 

  • Integrates into the team and quickly becomes proficient on science and data on assigned products and in therapeutic categories;
  • Demonstrates a sound knowledge of assigned brands and therapeutic categories as well as pharmaceutical marketing and client restrictions /requirements;
  • Demonstrates mastery of content submission process, including referencing, annotation, and regulatory details of assign brands and clients;
  • Builds a strong medical /scientific story, utilizing appropriate resources, that best supports a brand strategy;
  • Identifies important data points and key messages, from appropriate resources, and weaves these into a story that is consistent with product positioning and can command HCP and/or patient interest;
  • Plays a part in checking all developed materials for accuracy and compliance within regulatory restrictions;
  • Works within Creative Team to ensure appropriate translation and representation of content (i.e.  headlines, graphs, fair balance);
  • Addresses QC issues identified by Editors;
  • Collaborates effectively with Medical and Brand Strategy to ensure the content is accurate and on brand strategy;
  • Presents content to clients and medical/regulatory/legal committees, offers solutions to issues, and makes recommendations on proposed direction.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years medical/scientific writing experience
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree; healthcare-related field preferred
  • Proficient with Windows, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to work within a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with internal and external customers
