We are looking for an exceptional individual with [5+] years of experience in life sciences strategy consulting to join our rapidly growing European consulting practice as an Engagement Manager. You are driven, have strong interpersonal, analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills, and an interest in specializing in life sciences.

You will join The Commercial Advisory Group within Syneos Health Consulting, and you will help clients maximise the value of their assets, franchise, portfolio, and organization.

An Engagement Manager manages day-to-day activities of multiple client projects and ensures timely delivery of client work by coordinating the consultant team. Expectations include the ability to build relationships (internally and externally), identify client needs, design strategic and innovative solutions, and deliver client engagements on time and on budget. As a member of the management team, an Engagement Manager is responsible for ensuring a superior client experience while developing the skills and supervising the work of consulting staff team members. This experienced professional exhibits decision quality, is action oriented, communication savviness, and resourcefulness as the primary steward of consulting projects.


Key roles and responsibilities include:


  • Guide team members (Associates and Consultants) to effectively conduct tasks and contribute to timely project deliverables
  • Coordinate and conduct primary and secondary research, synthesise findings and develop relevant strategic recommendations
  • Analyze data  producing comprehensive insights, documentation, and present findings and strategy recommendations to team members and client leaders
  • Work closely with clients to determine project requirements and oversee all scheduling of necessary interactions to comprehend the client's business goals and project expectations
  • Provide superb customer service - listen actively to understand both what is being asked, and what is missing
  • Oversee the developments through research and direct team members in producing reports, power point presentations, etc. that are ready to be shared with the client
  • Review final research reports, presentations, etc. to ensure that the findings are in accordance to the client's business objectives and Syneos Health Consulting deliverable standards
  • Ensure that the project is completed in the time frame agreed upon and within the budgetary means
  • Provide regular project status updates to the client and project lead
  • Proactively identify opportunities and prepare proposals for additional project work
  • Complete internal project management tasks including budget tracking, project staffing, storage of documentation, project closure etc.
  • Coach team members on the project team and conduct project performance discussions with them

Job Requirements

Along with demonstrated initiative, uncompromised integrity and a result-oriented mindset, the ideal candidate has:


  • Degree (ideally MSc and/or PhD) in a life sciences related field; an MBA degree will also be considered although it is not prerequisite
  • Extensive experience in management consulting in the life sciences, pharmaceutical/biotech and/or medtech industry
  • Experience running portfolio and asset strategy projects (asset valuation and forecasting experience would be a bonus)
  • Prior engagement management experience required
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong presentation, storyboarding, PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Motivated problem solver - knows how to find answers to provide the best solution
  • High level of intellectual curiosity
  • The drive for self-development, the ability to collaborate, and an action-oriented work ethic
  • Work permit for the location you applying for (London or Zurich)
