The Senior Medical Science Liaison serves as a primary liaison for clinical and scientific information exchange between the company and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)/external clinical and scientific experts and health care providers. Their role is to identify, develop and maintain long-term collaborative partnerships with specified KOLs, external clinical and scientific experts, and assigned institutions, and provide scientific and clinical support for product portfolio. The Senior MSL will be required to lead discussions relating to HIV and provide scientific and medical data on both licensed and unlicensed products in response to appropriate requests from HCPs in accordance with national and company compliance rules. More specifically the Senior MSL will:

  • Mentor and train MSLs on developing KOL engagement strategies, therapeutic and disease state science – playing a role in professional development for junior colleagues
  • Possess thorough knowledge of company products, competitive products, and other therapeutic options within the company therapeutic areas.
  • Serve as a scientific expert at key medical and scientific conferences, advisory boards, clinical investigator meetings, internal meetings, and patient advocacy group meetings.
  • Use scientific background to gather, interpret and internally communicate data on competitor HIV products.
  • Identify strategic market opportunities using scientific field intelligence and communicates these imperatives to internal stakeholders
  • Respond to unsolicited medical information requests on products.

Job Requirements

Along with demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness and a results-oriented mindset, the ideal candidate has:

  • 3-5 years’ of MSL experience in HIV/AIDS, Hepatology, Infectious Disease, Endocrinology, Diabetes, Liver Disease, or Rare Disease experience.
  • Advanced terminal degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) in a related discipline strongly preferred. In lieu of a terminal degree, an RPh, Masters or nursing trained applicant with 8+ years of experience will be considered.
  • Clear understanding of MSL roles and responsibilities, and MA activities including publication planning, medical information, and advisory boards.
  • Strong customer orientation; a passion for science-based brands that can dramatically improve patients' lives.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop trust and maintain integrity with KOLs/external clinical and scientific experts, HCPs, institutions, organizations and patient groups; as well as with peers, and others
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of clinical research trial design in HIV/AIDS.
  • Ability to travel 60% - 75%
