Overview

Our client is a rapidly growing, innovative pharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing therapeutics to cost-effectively improve cardiovascular health. The organsations lead product, is available by prescription in the United
States, Canada, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates. This exciting therapy, together with its commercial partners in select geographies, is pursuing additional regulatory approvals for the product in China, the European Union and the Middle East.

We are looking for a highly talented individual to be the key architect and builder of the company's commercial footprint across Europe.

Responsibilities

The Head of Commercial - Europe will be responsible for the successful launch of the product in European Countries including:

  • Direct product sales or long-term agreements with one or more strategic partners
  • Building strong relationships with NICE, Primary Care and also Cardiologists across Europe
  • Regional Market Access across EU5
  • Building and delivering effective marketing plans for the brand / product in Europe

Job Requirements

  • Senior commercial leadership experience in launching new products in Europe, including building market access, assembling effective marketing organizations, creating and managing sales teams (including sizing and structure analysis) and implementing necessary, cost-effective infrastructure in the EU and, specifically, for blockbuster-level products
  • Deep understanding of market access rules and dynamics across multiple Europe countries for primary care products for chronic medical conditions

  • Extensive direct experience of interacting with relevant public bodies/payors/other relevant agencies in such countries

  • Track record of designing and implementing successful pricing and reimbursement strategies across multiple European geographies, including health economics initiatives

  • Experience with different Europe commercialization strategies & models

  • Country stakeholder engagement by connecting and building partnerships with KOLs and facilitating regional projects and initiatives (acknowledging that this work is coordinated within Europe Medical Affairs team)

  • Profit/loss management experience is important as is a passion for improving patient care

  • Cardio/metabolic therapeutic area/product experience a major advantage

  • Strong communications skills (written and verbal) are necessary

  • Proactive nature and appreciation for accountability are necessary

  • Fluent English is necessary. Ability to conduct business in other European languages are an advantage, in particular: German, French and Spanish

  • Demonstrated ability to work solo and networked as part of a broader US/European organization; keen sensitivity to the impact of their role on internal business colleagues and external strategic partners

  • Comfort with a Europe-based role that may require travel across the continent as well as to Amarin’s offices in Dublin, Ireland and Bridgewater, NJ, USA
