Responsibilities

As the Syneos Health Commercial EVP, Global Business Development you will Report to the President Commercial Solutions, this role will be responsible for developing and leading the Global Commercial Business Development function to significantly grow Commercial Solutions and deliver a steady, robust pipeline of qualified opportunities. As a member of the Commercial Executive Leadership Team, this role is responsible for developing and executing on plans to achieve revenue and profitability targets through collaboration with business leaders and coaching and development of BD team while ensuring the establishment of a well-structured operation that has repeatable practices and processes.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • As a member of Global Commercial Leadership Team, sets both short and long-term strategic and business plans for all aspects of growth globally for Commercial Businesses Development and aligns strategy and executes for the individual business units. Specifically, the Communications and Deployment Solutions businesses.
  • Attract, build, lead, train, and coach a progressive Business Development team for the Syneos Health Commercial division. 
  • Cultivate and leverage business development relationships with other industry partners.
  • Aggressively drive a robust funnel of business opportunities to exceed company's revenue targets, and accelerate its growth while responding to challenges within the market and business. 
  • Oversees and ensures that the Business Development teams forecasts territory sales and activity objectives. 
  • Ensures an annual business plan is developed and outlays a strategy for further business development of all specific market segments and strategic accounts.  Reviews these plans on a monthly and quarterly basis to determine where adjustments may be require
  • Develops and grows partnerships with the appropriate business unit leadership and operation’s leaders to provide solutions in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures.  
  • Coordinates with stakeholders across the company and externally to understand and support key business development needs, identifying gaps in current capabilities and augmenting strengths.
  • Works closely with the senior management of Business Insights and Sales Operations to design, develop and implement marketing and customer account plans to maximize growth consistent with the corporate strategy.
  • Provides support and guidance to less experienced staff members.  
  • Works with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods. 
  • Approves courses of action on all management / human resources’ matters, including salary administration;employment hires, transfers, terminations; performance appraisals and professional development; job description preparation, and employee counseling. 
  • Maintains professional level of knowledge in Company specialty areas of Commercial Solution offerings.
  • Actively participates at professional meetings and conventions as appropriate.  

Other Responsibilities:  Performs other work-related duties as assigned.  Extensive travel may be required (more than 50%).

 

Job Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in a science related field, or equivalent related education and experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in pharma, biotech or other related industry. Must have deep understanding of Life Sciences Industry and current landscape.
  • Multiple years in a Senior Leadership role
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Superior communication skills (presentation and documentation),  
  • Global experience preferred.
  • Understanding of complex and lengthy sales cycles and how to create achievable milestones and deliver meticulous follow-up.
  • Ability to successfully work in a matrix environment to deliver exceptional results.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and close deals.
  • Background in operational excellence and building a business development function highly desired.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills with a strong team-oriented approach. 
  • Ability to perform several tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines is necessary.
  • Must be strategic, flexible, tenacious and results-oriented.

This position can be located at one of our office locations in the Northeast (NYC, Central NJ).  Travel required 50% of the time to meet with clients and visit Syneos Health offices across the US.
