Responsibilities

 

You’ll join the Commercial Innovation and Solutions group (CIS), where our strategy is to collaborate across Syneos Heath to design, develop, and sell a portfolio of innovative, integrated solutions that combine internal and external capabilities to solve our clients current and future product development and commercialization needs. More specifically:

The Solution Design Manager is the Architect and Mastermind who works closely with the customer, business development and project delivery leaders to design the best solution for our Pharmaceutical and Biotech customers.   You have a big picture view of solutions and can strategically design and lead the execution of the best solution that will take our customers quickly from Lab to Life.  Or in other words, the best path to successful commercialization of thier drug or device.

You will lead consulting teams in the project plan, strategy and execution requirements so they can deliver a timely, successful solution.  You will be skilled at working across functional areas and business units ensuring we have the right talent and skills assigned to the project for the best possible outcome for our customers.  The Solution Design Manager is not expected to deliver projects.  Once a solution has been sold (i.e., awarded), the Solution Design Manager works to the transition to the project delivery team(s). 

  • Work closely with the Commercial Integration Project Management to manage logistics including ensuring that the appropriate stakeholders and delivery teams are invited to meetings. 
  • The Solution Architect will define the needs and the Commercial Integration PMO will execute. 
  • The Solution Design Manager will be expected to ensure Quality Control is built into the project/solution.
  • Participate in decision  making for  the assignment of resources to opportunities and special projects.
  • Engage CIS pooled consultants and the Business Units as appropriate to conduct research and create content in support of solution designs.
  • Manage and facilitate solution design meetings ensure that there are objectives and agendas and that follow-ups and action items are documented and tracked
  • Consolidate work stream level content into full document drafts and ensure that the sections align to the overall solution. 
  • Provide quality control and work with Solution Leads to address any changes that need to be made; manage “punch lists” of actions and owners needed to complete
  • Support the development, consolidation, presentation, and approval of Solution Pricing models
  • Act as a line manager to consultants in the pool and those assigned from other practices for rotations; provide guidance and coaching to staff

Job Requirements

 Along with demonstrated initiative, uncompromised integrity and a results-oriented mindset, the ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelors Degree in a scientific discipline or MBA or related Masters Degree (preferred)
  • 10-15 years of Life Sciences industry and consulting experience
  • PMP certification preferred - extensive project management experience in Drug or Device commercialization required
  • Significant Program and Project Management experience in matrixed organizations
  • Management Consulting or services company experience (e.g., CRO, CCO, Market Strategy) a must - preference for candidates with big strategy firm experience.
  • Industry experience (manufacturer) preferred, but not required
    Market insights, analytics and strategy experience preferred
  • Excellent communications and people management skills required
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) required

  • Ability to handle ambiguity and multiple concurrent assignments
  • Willingness to travel ~25%
