Overview

The Biomedical Editor is responsible for proofreading, copy editing, and formatting content in slide presentations, summaries, pamphlets, posters, external correspondences, abstracts, manuscripts, and other materials.

 

 

Responsibilities

Key Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Edits and formats slide presentations of scientific data

  • Proofreads meeting materials and external correspondences

  • Copyedits and fact checks abstracts and manuscripts

  • Ensures the quality of format and visual quality of layout

  • Maintains style guides noting client and project preferences

  • Assists with maintaining Editorial calendar when appropriate

  • Produces accurate work, even when under pressure

  • Checks accuracy of information before using it or presenting it to others

  • Establishes solid working relationships with all internal teams

  • Accurately tracks time spent on each job and enters in time-tracking system on a daily basis

 

 

Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or related field

Skills

Required:

  • Proficient in basic grammar and spelling rules

  • Knowledge of all proofing and editing symbols

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Exceptional written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with internal team members

  • Attention to detail: Extremely organized and efficient; can respond to rapidly shifting priorities and maintain accuracy across multiple tasks

  • Able to efficiently prioritize multiple tasks

  • Proficient in the following: Windows, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word. Experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat Pro, or AMA Manual of Style is a plus.

 

Preferred:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in Medical Communications field
