Overview

  • Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany-Pfizer Alliance/Bavencio immunotherapy brand communications, including major global and US milestones in renal cancer carcinoma as well as support for additional tumor types
  • Respectful and engaged clients who appreciate attention to detail, creative thinking and view us as partners; direct clients are PR, but with open line to other functions throughout both companies, providing diverse client relationships and experiences
  • Business includes global and US brand communications (i.e., data, regulatory, access), opportunistic media, stakeholder relations, issues management, internal communications, social media/digital and measurement
  • Potential for travel to major medical meetings (one US and one ex-US)

Responsibilities

  • A team member who will support account team leader and senior strategic counselor
  • Priority focus will be on brand communications surrounding major congresses, publications, regulatory actions and issues preparedness. This will include liaising with two clients, brand/review teams, and external thought leaders to help inform brand communications program and positioning, and of course corresponding resource materials (press releases, creative assets, etc.)
  • Additional potential to support unbranded patient engagement program to raise awareness of renal cell carcinoma and partner with community as well as inform internal communications tactics for Merck KGaA

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in a professional environment within the public relations and/or communications industries (required)
  • Strong client relations expertise and familiarity with branded pharmaceutical product and scientific communications is required
  • Oncology background is a plus but not required;  however, team members must have deep interest in scientific and data/regulatory communications – but important to note variety of business will allow for unique and challenging opportunities given milestones across various tumor types and high interest in immunotherapy space
  • This candidate must have strong project management skills, including team delegation, timeline and budget tracking, quality control and logistics planning. Strong writing, organization, logistics, collaboration, and oral communications skills are critical. Additionally, an understanding of social media processes/tools/approach/regulations, corporate review processes, healthcare regulations and issues management is beneficial
  • Writing, organization, logistics, collaboration, attention to detail and oral communications are required.
  • Willingness to travel is required for client meetings and events in this role. May also need to work weekends during certain milestones
