Responsibilities

This opportunity is with Syneos Health Consulting, an industry-leading consulting firm specializing in the biopharmaceutical industry providing services across a comprehensive range of key Practice Areas including commercial strategy and planning, medical affairs, risk and program management and pricing and market access. You’ll join a team with industry focus, depth of functional expertise, and strong scientific and market knowledge that is uniquely positioned to tackle highly complex business and market challenges to develop achievable strategies for our clients.

The Solution Design Manager role with Commercial Innovation and Solutions is responsible for managing the overall solution development process and ensuring there is integration both within and across functions and business units.  The Solution Design Manager is expected to be a “player – coach” who manages team members and steps in as necessary to ensure a smooth process, providing guidance and leadership to the teams.

The Solution Design Manager works closely with the Asset and Product Solution Leads in CIS, the CI PMO, and the BU teams assigned to integrated solutions during solution design. The Solution Design Manager is not expected to deliver projects.  Once a solution has been sold (i.e., awarded), the Solution Design Manager works to the transition to the delivery team.

Solution Design Managers in CIS are also responsible for defining and continuously improving operational processes that make cross-business Unit collaboration and solution development easier.  The expectation is that ASLs conduct “after action reviews” and objectively look at what did/ did not work and define specific actions to improve both the process and the overall experience for the next opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Commercial Integration PMO to manage logistics including ensuring that the appropriate people are invited to meetings, that the meeting spaces are appropriate for the intended meeting (size, AV requirements), and that WebEx and dial-in numbers are provided as needed.  The Solution Architect will define the needs and the CI PMO will execute.  The Solution Design Manager will be expected to Quality Control.
  • Participate in weekly or bi weekly operations meetings where resources are assigned to opportunities and special projects
  • Engage CIS pooled consultants and the Business Units as appropriate to conduct research and create content in support of solution designs
  • Manage opportunity activation including establishing project codes, Salesforce.com entries, document sharing sites, and meeting schedules
  • Manage and facilitate solution design meetings ensure that there are objectives and agendas and that follow-ups and action items are documented and tracked
  • Consolidate work stream level content into full document drafts and ensure that the sections align to the overall solution.  Provide quality control and work with Solution Leads to address any changes that need to be made; manage “punch lists” of actions and owners needed to complete
  • Support the development, consolidation, presentation, and approval of Solution Pricing models including staffing plans
  • Act as a line manager to consultants in the pool and those assigned from other practices for rotations; provide guidance and coaching to staff

Job Requirements

Along with demonstrated initiative, uncompromised integrity and a results-oriented mindset, the ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree (preferred)
  • 10-15 years of Life Sciences industry experience
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Significant Program and Project Management experience in matrixed organizations
  • Management consulting or services company experience (e.g., CRO, CCO) a must
  • Industry experience (manufacturer) preferred, but not required
  • Excellent communications and people management skills required
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) required
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and multiple concurrent assignments
  • Willingness to travel ~50%
