As part of this team, you will be responsible for providing medical and scientific support for Janssen’s neuroscience portfolio including Invega Sustenna and Invega Trinza, long-acting antipsychotic treatments for adults with schizophrenia, as well as Spravato (Esketamine) CIII Nasal Spray, for adults with treatment-resistant depression. Spravato was recently approved by the FDA and represents the first new antidepressant mechanism of action in decades.


 Help move healthcare forward and positively impact patients in the following territory which contains the states of NY and NJ.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is responsible for providing fair balanced, objective, scientific information to health care professionals and to internal business partners as required by scientific and business needs.  The MSL is considered the scientific and clinical expert on current and future Janssen Neuroscience products.  The MSL is also responsible for staying abreast of current scientific and treatment landscape trends in therapeutic areas of interest and is responsible for building external relationships with recognized experts, HCPs, and prioritized external stakeholders in the Neuroscience therapeutic and integrated health care systems.  The MSL is responsible for conducting all activities in accordance with current regulatory and health care compliance guideline.

You’ll confer with internal stakeholders and build new collaborative relationships with medical and scientific leaders. You’ll contribute cutting-edge clinical and scientific Neuroscience data to help move healthcare forward and positively impact patients. You will:

  • Consistently maintain a Territory Strategy Plan and share insights/strategic planning details with Neuroscience MSL Leadership
  • Build HCP partnerships and conduct ongoing dialogue with customers to understand HCP perspectives including challenges when treating patients with SMI
  • Integrate scientific data into real life practice to meet customer/audience needs, adapting interpersonal style to particular situations and people
  • Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries of Health Care Providers (HCPs)/investigators/health care systems/academic medical centers and treatment team members integrating scientific data including real world evidence in to real life practice to meet customer needs
  • Maintain understanding and competence in the following areas: Neuroscience Franchise including Medical Affairs Field mission, vision and operating principles; operating company scientific data and objectives; market dynamics and competitive landscape; regulatory and health care compliance guidelines; corporate policies on appropriate business conduct and ethical behavior

Job Requirements

Along with demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness and a results-oriented mindset, the ideal candidate has:

  • A doctorate degree is required including PharmD, PhD, MD, PsyD. Post graduate experience required with preference for clinical experience. 
  • At least 1-3 years of previous industry experience preferably in MSL role is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years clinical or related practical experiences required. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Requires travel of approx. 60% depending on geography (includes overnight travel)
  • Candidate must reside in designated region
  • Ability to maintain an office in the home required
