Description

The National Sales Director (NSD) Role is both strategic and operational. A strong focus on operationalizing the sales force plan to achieve results with strategic business inputs within and out with sales. The NSD is jointly accountable with our client local management for the sales development in the country. They will support the client to ensure local market access is developed, implementing, managing and flexing the sales resources deployed to support sales adoption of QUVIVIQ. She/he will work closely with the client as key member of their local leadership team to drive compliant sales success with the field teams., promoting a 1st in class product (QUVIVIQ) with a new Mode of Action (MoA). The NSD will line manage all the deployed Regional Business Managers (RBM) and their associated field-based product specialist teams. across secondary care, specifically psychiatry. He/she will play a key leadership role in the operational planning and executing of r the sales and marketing plan. They will create a positive, performance, encouraging and developing culture. The NSD will work closely with the internal operations team and the client stakeholders to support the performance and the execution of the QUVIVIQ sales services in country (Field targeting, resource allocation, regional & territory market access plans, field activity planning, call effectiveness and active performance monitoring). The person will ensure seamless collaboration across the different field teams (Sales, Market Access and Medical)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic & Operational Sales Leadership

  • Responsible for strategically leading and operational management the deployed field commercial team across the country to develop and drive sales, proactively addressing any challenges with geographies or personnel
  • To lead regular business reviews with RBMs and with the client to seek insight on challenges and opportunities and take action aligned with the local GM.
  • Working closely with the VP Commercial and internal SYNH deployment solutions (Recruitment, HR, Training, Compliance, Operations, Finance, Legal) to optimize the resources to ensure they are efficient, delivering activity and achieving results.
  • Working in a broader matrix ecosystem as part of Syneos Health and the Client’s Spanish team, being part of the client leadership team and local steering committee.
  • Second line sales leadership, line management for the Regional Business Managers and deployed commercial field team across the country.
  • Deeply understanding the Client strategy for QUVIVIQ to ensure successful uptake of QUVIVIQ and that ongoing sales targets are met in line with the agreed work order.
  • Working with local SYNH / Client to develop in market strategy and responsible for sales tactical execution of that strategy.
  • Responsible sales execution excellence –field targeting, in call effectiveness, territory planning, and activity metrics
  • To work with SH IC team, VP and client to ensure reward, recognition and motivation programs as aligned with client, are implemented and concluded in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring the deployed sales team have robust regional and territory business plans in line with the SYNH and Clients strategy for sales.
  • Actively support the VP Commercial in leading regular meetings with the SYNH Business Operations Directors / First Line Managers to discuss project progress, contingencies, training needs and field operational needs.
  • To work with our client local Marketing to support, implement and deliver an omnichannel approach in the context of the Spanish market with full integration with SF and ensuring KPIs are met.

Compliance and Ethics

  • Ensure the sales team deploy ethical and compliant practices across the country and in line with national laws and requirements for pharmaceutical promotion.
  • Responsible for ensuring the team complete all of the required SOP’s and Training for SYNH and the client in a timely fashion.
  • Partnership with client medical affairs team for any data or insights relevant to the team in country.

Performance Management

  • Proactively setting high standards and managing under performance or any significant challenges
  • Supporting the ongoing training for the RBMs and deployed sales team.
  • Coaching and mentorship of the RBMs enabling them to drive success through their teams.
  • Ensuring regular performance assessment of both RBMs and deployed sales team.
  • To ensure action plans for deficiencies are in place as and when required including the use of Performance Improvement plans (PIP).
  • Actively participate in regular update meetings with client on country level to ensure delivery of agreed KPIs, operational performance and issue resolution

External Influence

  • Awareness of the KEEs and influences across the country who can advocate for QUVIVIQ and ensuring they are engaged at the right level with the right messaging in a complaint manner
  • To develop own network of KEEs who you can seek advice and thoughts independently of the sales force feedback

Reporting and Administration

  • Take responsibility for ensuring information flow and all other deliverables are completed on time. (ie territory design/ optimization, CRM, field team on boarding, regional training program) and within the budget set.
  • Working closely with internal and client stakeholders in reporting and analytics to ensure accurate data relating to activity is reported effectively.
  • Responsible for sign-off on sales team expenses, budgets and allowances.
  • Work closely with leaders and across entire Syneos Health Commercial business to develop broad, integrated solutions-based offerings to potential clients.

QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree or higher qualification e.g. MBA
  • Fulfils legal requirements in the country for promotion of pharmaceuticals e.g. (Spain )
  • Full clean driving license
  • Able to speak and present to a reasonable standard in English and Spanish, to be able to engage and influence with above country SH/ client senior managers.

Industry Experience

  • Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry in a sales, market access, marketing and commercial operations capacity
  • Experience in sales, market access and marketing roles (desirable) with responsibility for prescription pharmaceutical business
  • Experience in line-management roles within biotech, pharma or medical device or diagnostics preferred: experience in second line management preferred and in service side role within biopharma consultancy or agency services desirable.
  • Evidence of leading and motivating a team to success.
  • Deep recent understanding of market access landscape in Spain, specifically the regional access and how this impacts the landscape and activities of the team.
  • Experience of delivering product success in Spain.
  • Understand the role of using face to face, omnichannel including remote promotional activity in country to drive business goals.
  • A good understanding of the different stakeholders who play a role in facilitating QUVIVIQ uptake in a local health economy and their respective influence.
  • A demonstrated network of high-level HCP contacts and ancillary contacts who are part of the healthcare system.
  • Strong commercial credibility – good track record in industry and strong credibility in sales, marketing, operations.

Leadership Skills

  • Able to demonstrate strong motivational leadership of sales managers and sales force to achieve successful execution and sales success.
  • Able to be a strong commercial leader but also able to strategize, able to see the bigger picture.
  • Previous successful first- and second-line sales management experience including product launch.
