The role: 

As well as top-level craft, creativity in health communications is rooted in ideas and concepts – the red thread that runs through communication. Even though many Designers and Art Directors have true talent with words, Designers are not Copywriters, and images alone are not concepts. Concepts are both visual and verbal. And great ideas need a specific kind of talent, especially in a ‘content’ rich digital health world. 

With that in mind, we are looking for a middle-weight Creative Copywriter to be at the heart of the Creative Department and help us develop and deliver promotional copy, trailblazing creative concepts and verbal identities for our clients – and our agency.  More than writing headlines, you’ll need to be able to take sometimes complex scientific and health information and transform it into an easy to understand, creative, captivating narrative that can be used across a range of business units and materials. Regularly working with an equally talented art director/designer partner, you’ll write, concept, craft, finesse, execute, present, produce, shape and inspire. You’ll have a real fire in your belly to solve complex business problems with your strong and simple yet powerfully scalable ideas. Online, offline and everywhere in-between. 

It takes someone special to excel in this role; you’ll know how to work within a creative PR department whilst also flexing those skills to generate conceptual solutions as part of a broader team. 

Your ability to write across classic advertising communications will be easily demonstrable too. 

You understand that copywriting is re-writing… is re-writing, and have a process for getting to great copy that can inspire others

You’re someone who bubbles with progressive views on how brands can touch and move people. You recognise the value of insight, impact, relevance and effectiveness. 

You’re as excited by old-school copy craft as you are digital transformation. 

You’re not a Strategist, but you are definitely a strategic creative who challenges the brief and others in the team to think beyond it to add value to projects 

You love finding the human angle in client propositions – both the obvious and the hidden. 

You don’t pigeon-hole yourself as exclusively 'Ad’ or indeed ‘PR’ creative copywriter: you’re simply a lateral, creative thinker and ideator, who considers client problems from different angles and comes up with powerful solutions finessed to enviable standards. 

The role within the department:

If all that sounds good, then here’s the brilliant – the role forms part of a multi-disciplinary team with in-house capabilities across art and copy, video and interactive, artwork and design. So the team is looking for someone who is great at getting ideas down on paper with a pad and a pen – before expanding and applying those ideas across everything from ads and videos to events, experiences and apps. Tactically and strategically, you’ll make a significant and proactive contribution to our agency’s award-worthy creative output. Honestly, we can’t wait to meet you.

Required attributes:

  • Creative Copywriting experience of delivering PR/Advertising creative communications, preferably but not exclusively healthcare advertising. 
  • A fundamental understanding of medical/scientific terminology, procedures, and concepts so as to accurately represent health information visually and ensure compliance with industry regulations
  • Ability to adapt and develop tones and style to new and diverse projects and product types
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to develop, craft and present ideas effectively with confidence, clarity and flair
  • High levels of attention to detail, resilience and flexibility 
  • A restless curiosity and an infectious enthusiasm for our industry and your craft 
  • An avid interest in the power of AI and how it can augment creative solutions and ways of working.
  • The desire to challenge the way health and wellness brands touch and move people - from consumers to healthcare professionals. 
  • A tenacity to be a trailblazer not just in the broader comms industry, but in health communications.
