The Integrated Strategy Director is part of the Communications business unit and sits within the Central Strategy team. You will have the opportunity to provide strategic insights, strategy support, and subject matter expertise across different brands within the entire roster of Communications agencies (advertising, PR, branding, medical communications). The Central Strategy is composed of team members that are geographically dispersed and, as such, this role can be based anywhere and will be full-time remote.

The Integrated Strategy Director is part insight builder, part multi-faceted strategist, part storyteller extraordinaire. Frequently problem solving against some of the toughest business challenges in the industry, this position is responsible for creating the understanding that involves, inspires, and activates change amongst target audiences. Your role will be to cultivate insight into the lived experience of illness today, from the perspective of all key audiences - including physicians, patients, and caregivers as applicable - and ensure they are at the forefront throughout the strategic, creative, and customer experience development processes for our clients’ brands.

With an insatiable curiosity and deep interest in uncovering the behaviors, drivers and motivations of healthcare audiences, this role is hands-on in researching and delivering actionable insights, and then translating them to smart strategies that deliver on Syneos’ Strategic Method, which runs the gamut from brand to content to digital/CX strategy. So, while you don’t need to be an expert in all of those areas, having a working knowledge of each strategic discipline is key.

  • Conduct desktop research and/or literature reviews to develop evidence-based hypotheses to take into research.
  • Collaborate with clients, account teams, and research SMEs to gather and translate business priorities and objectives into effective research plans with accompanying stimuli and discussion guides as needed.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver compelling workshops, and develop and execute strategic plans that align with the client brand’s overall goals and business strategy.
  • Understand the needs and wants of healthcare professionals and patients to create meaningful and engaging communications and experiences.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in the healthcare industry to develop innovative and creative solutions.
  • Develop and implement brand strategies (purpose, messaging, personality, personas, content, tactics) that position client brands as leaders in their field.
  • Find new ways to grow client businesses through strategic marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Work with creative teams to develop and execute bold and innovative ideas that resonate with target audiences.
  • Conduct research, develop creative briefs, and help create presentations that win new business.

  • Elevate research findings into insightful readout reports that bring the voice of the consumer to life and help to craft creative, clear, and concise brand stories.
  • Deliver business-right thinking through crafting human-centric stories that captivate, activate, and motivate.
  • Help elevate the skill set of agency strategists on strategic storytelling abilities, developing content and tools, and cascading new frameworks, points of view, and the like.

  • Agency experienced.
  • An innovative thinker that can devise inventive solutions to tough problems.
  • Fascinated by human behavior.
  • Curious and drawn to new ideas, especially offbeat or contrarian points of view.
  • A believer that conformity is synonymous with mediocrity. You enjoy throwing down a challenge to existing thinking, and don’t take it personally when others return the favor.
  • Versatile, optimistic, collaborative, and energetic.
  • A little quirky… and totally okay with that.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising or Communications, or a related field
  • 5-10 years of industry experience with progressive levels of responsibility
  • An excellent understanding of the full marketing mix
  • Agency experience building brands, working on client projects, and working within cross-functional team environments
  • Client-facing experience, preferably in a communications agency or for-profit consulting practice
  • A blend of data-driven thinking and creativity
  • The capacity to command an audience and clearly articulate a point of view
  • A track record of running with and completing projects with minimal direction
