Overview

An internship with GSW will give you the opportunity to work side by side with passionate writers, artists, marketing experts, strategists, and other business partners while developing powerful work for your portfolio. Our collaborative culture makes learning from the expertise of agency veterans accessible and allows you to share your own knowledge and experience in turn. You’ll be asked to speak up, challenge the status quo, and push your creative thinking to its limit. In short: you have a voice, and we want to hear it.

More than just day-to-day work, there will be opportunities to participate in events just for our interns: social events with fellow interns, career development workshops, community service projects, networking with senior leaders… just to name a few.

The Opportunity

Our GSW team in Los Angeles is looking for an intellectually curious, wildly inventive problem solver to support our office as we continue to deliver strategic, data-driven, wonder-fueled solutions to our internal partners and external clients.

As a full-service creative healthcare communications agency, GSW goes beyond typical pharma & healthcare advertising to create inspirational experiences to engage, educate, and activate people through ongoing brand journeys. We develop strategic marketing solutions for pharmaceutical, biotech, and health-and-wellness clients around the world.

This is a full-time, 12-week internship over Summer 2023.

This position is designed to provide an immersive perspective on working in the healthcare communications field as part of a creative agency. During your time with GSW you will be exposed to everything agency life has to offer, including what goes into creating and bringing ideas to market.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an active member of the copy team, contributing to day-to-day tasks associated with developing the work
  • Concept, generate copy elements, and capture feedback (internal and client) while under supervision of a senior member of the copy department
  • Join team meetings and client presentations (as appropriate)
  • Collaborate with fellow interns on special projects to present to the executive leadership team
  • Seek out additional opportunities for learning, including greater exposure to aspects of the agency world that intrigue you the most
  • Support creative and agency team with ideation, product or market research, and other self-guided workflows

Job Requirements

  • Student entering Senior year as of Fall 2023
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in writing, marketing, science, communications or similar
  • Loves science and learning how to interpret clinical data through the lens of creative advertising
  • Has a knack for uncovering solutions to problems using out-of-the-box thinking
  • Desire to create provocative stories while navigating strategic imperatives and industry standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams), social and digital platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Meta, Twitter, etc)
  • Above-average attention to detail with effective communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to manage a workload consisting of multiple concurrent projects and tasks

GSW turns against the premise of doing the “same old.” Our culture is focused on collaborative, meaningful advertising and day-to-day interpersonal interaction. We value the diverse backgrounds of our team members, and everyone has the opportunity to provide input and be heard.

GSW is comprised of creative, motivated individuals who are all here for a reason. We welcome those who strive to work above and beyond their role, who voice their opinion and who are engaged in all aspects of the agency.

GSW is part of Syneos Health Communications, a purpose-built collective of agencies focused on supporting health and biopharmaceutical innovators. We work in scalable, collaborative teams that partner across disciplines and geographies to deliver integrated communications strategies that accelerate brand performance. In today’s fast-changing and complex environment, success lies in making connections: between science, emotion, and technology; between data, design and human insight. We’re able to make those connections because our medical communications, digital, advertising, public relations, data science, research and market access specialists work closely with each other and with healthcare experts, including physicians, pharmacists and advocates. Together, we are the connected healthcare partner tapping rich insights to drive innovation, change behavior and pioneer a new era of accountable marketing.

Syneos Health Communications is powered by Syneos Health, a global professional services organization designed to help the biopharmaceutical industry shorten the distance from lab to life.
