The Media Supervisor has the responsibility to lead our integrated media buying and execution along with our respective agency teams within Syneos Health. The media supervisor should have a thorough understanding of media buying/contracting, trafficking, and campaign execution/reporting. The media supervisor will help to cultivate and further the media team relationships with key publishers and vendors within the pharmaceutical advertising space. A primary responsibility of this role will be to regularly monitor campaign performance to support the team in identifying trends and providing recommendations for optimizing the performance of our campaigns. This position plays a critical role in helping us to identify our processes for QA, execution and reporting, helping us to improve our inefficiencies and workflow. Collaboration with our biddable media and performance media groups will be expected to support the creation of personalized media plans for the target audience that result in positive gains for our clients.

Additionally, this person will be responsible for training our media buyers and planners in team processes and approach to campaign setup, execution and reporting. This position will report to the VP, Media Strategy

This individual owns the media planning and execution tasks across key pharmaceutical clients while working directly with both internal and external stakeholders.  

In addition this person will be responsible to maintain all partnerships across our media group. These partnerships include database services, demand side platform providers, and direct buy media partners. They also will need deep experience in being hands on within a trading desk environment.

This individual owns the media strategy, planning and execution of key clients while working directly with both internal and external stakeholders.   Additionally, this person will collaborate with internal employees to provide strategic media direction and thought leadership during new business pitches.

Media Leadership

  • Own media planning and buying - Ensure campaigns align with client goals and objectives; provide campaign insights and recommendations; Communicate directly with media reps; prioritize deliverables across accounts, balancing urgency and importance
  • Evangelize media – Participate in internal status meetings and client discussions (as applicable) while deepening relationships with critical media vendors and publishers
  • Own flawless media execution – QA banners/proofing plans/keywords to ensure flawless execution; help identify bottlenecks, providing recommendations for improvement; Develop insertion orders for media campaigns following approved language, verify accuracy of all IOs & invoices
  • Train, mentor, and propagate culture – Mentor & train associates; provide on-boarding documents for new hires
  • Accurately deliver results – Ensure delivery of  reporting, on-time and error free; regularly monitor campaign performance through campaign trackers that allow us to quickly identify trends and insights, ensuring campaign performance is aligned with original program estimates; develop necessary campaign trackers that we can share internally to monitor performance and collaborate on insights

Media Planning and Buying

  • Approaches media plans from a holistic media perspective, putting the strategy first
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all media channels, keeping up with new trends in the marketplace
  • Knowledgeable within all media disciplines (strategy, planning, buying, research)
  • Create intuitive presentations to be delivered to internal & external key stakeholders
  • Lead the development of and presentation of detailed media recommendations along with respective external media partners
  • Own accurate and up to date flowcharts depicting current status of all active and planned integrated media buys
  • Collaborate with data science and analytics team to develop measurement plans that include channels outside of media
  • Promotes the media offerings of Syneos Health internally and externally, selling in the media capabilities where applicable


Systems & Tools

  • Hands-on experience with ad technologies including ad serving, ad-verification, and 3rd party data providers is required
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus
  • Experience with ad serving solutions, tag management and operations
  • Knowledge of research tools and capabilities

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of progressively senior experience in integrated media planning and buying.
  • Candidates should be knowledgeable in digital and audience buying
  • Excellent presentation skills, and history of successful client engagements
  • Exceptional organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities and detail oriented
  • Strong analytical abilities and quantitative skills
  • Pharmaceutical and agency experience a must.
