The managed markets group at Syneos Health is looking for an Account Director to join their team in San Francisco. The Account Director independently leads and manages the client/agency relationship and fosters collaboration with the internal cross-functional team. In this role you will support overall brand development and stewardship, and be responsible for agency team management, strategic support, scope development and execution, and account profitability. This position also supports new business development efforts. As an emerging leader within the agency you'll typically manage 1-2 client brands and a team of 2-4 direct reports (depending on the scope of business).

Description of Duties

The Account Director will: o Secure a solid agency/client relationship across functions and ensure that both client and agency needs are well servedo Ensure strategic expectations and deliverables are meto Represent and defend the agency point-of-view, handle objections in a professional mannerand push back on client in a diplomatic way to gain consensuso Lead tactical planning and development of scope of work for brando Lead scope presentation and effectively sell plan to cliento Oversee execution of all managed markets initiatives to ensure they meet client objectivesand expectationso Contribute appropriate insights, facts, and data to foster the planning and creative processesfor the client and agency teamo Contribute to strategy development, and critically evaluate managed markets marketinginvestments vs. strategy• Manage cross-functional agency teamo Demonstrate solid partnership with all functions and disciplines within agency, includingProducer, Account, Managed Markets Content Expert, Creative, Medical, Strategy, andDigitalo Match talent to task for client and agency work to optimize utilizationo Motivate team to maintain a solid knowledge base of client brand value proposition,competitive landscape, and market activityo Work with functional leads to improve process and create a positive team environmento Oversee development of internal documentation per agency SOP (e.g., brand reviews,creative history books, client backgrounders, etc.)• Exhibit strong financial acumen and own the financial health of account, including utilization andprofitabilityo Forecast accurately on a bi-monthly basiso Oversee client budget reconciliationso Generate annual financial budgetso Review financial status of account with cliento Ensure senior management is aware of any potential financial issues• Demonstrate a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, managed markets space,therapeutic category, brand, and relevant competitorso Provide client strategic direction to achieve objectiveso Generate opportunities to deliver ideas and value-added communications to the cliento Contribute to the development or refinement of brand value proposition and managedmarkets messagingo Proactively review the strategic plan to support Managed Markets Content Expert and brandplanningo Actively contribute to message development, creative reviews; offer critical evaluation• Guide the development of and demonstrate a deep understanding of the Project Brief forappropriate tactics; evaluates project against the Project Brief• Proficient at managing, developing, and motivating direct reports and broader teamo Set clear performance expectations, identifies stretch goalso Create and fosters development opportunitieso Support external new business initiatives as requested with strategic and tactical development

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications• A Bachelor's degree (marketing, communications concentration preferred), MBA, or advanceddegree• 5-10 years of agency, healthcare marketing experience• Strong knowledge of managed markets, general pharmaceutical marketing and sales, brandmanagement preferred• Working knowledge of common internet/new media concepts and practices• Travel approximately 20-50%
